This is very early in a story, the implications of which are highly unclear. However, the ebola outbreak in west Africa is centered around an area of enormous gold production (southern Mali, Ghana, and Burkina Faso):

Ghana, Burkina Faso, and southern Mali all border ebola ravaged areas of Guinea and Cote d'Ivoire

Given that this is an area that is currently producing over 2,000,000 ounces of gold annually with projections of producing much more in the coming years, the ebola story is one that the gold market should follow closely.
