Leading Canadian Raw Pet Food Manufacturer Red Dog Deli to Open State-of-the-Art Production Facility

New Facility Allows B.C. Company To Rapidly Scale Production to Address Growing Demand for Healthy, Real Food For Pets

VANCOUVER, BC (FSCwire) - Western Canada’s leader in the production of raw food for pets, Red Dog Deli Raw Food Company Inc., the maker of Red Dog Blue Kat, has experienced strong growth, year after year, since opening its doors in 2004 in a market that saw Canadians spend $7B on pet food (2016 sales).* In response to this growing consumer demand for quality, real and unprocessed food for pets (also known as raw pet food), Inna Shekhtman (CEO), recently announced that the company will move to a newly built, state-of-the-art, 13,000 sq. ft. production facility in Port Coquitlam, in April 2017. The new manufacturing and processing facility will allow Red Dog Deli to significantly increase production capacity and grow the company’s research and development in area of nutrition and common health issues that our pets suffer from today.

Over the past ten years, the focus on pet health and wellness has substantially increased. From service animals to family pets, dogs and cats have a special bond with people. Studies show that pets can profoundly improve our physical and mental health and positively impact child development.** Today’s dogs and cats are aging faster, dying younger and suffering from higher instances of disease than ever before.***** Cancer is one of the top ailments of pets - according to the Animal Cancer Foundation; over six million pets in the US are diagnosed with cancer each year.****

Red Dog CEO and owner Inna Shekhtman commented that “Red Dog Deli wants to help pets live longer and healthier lives. We literally want to shift the statistic for life expectancy of our pets. They are members of the family so every year counts, and when they thrive, it benefits the well-being of the entire family. We have spent more than a decade educating consumers and pet retailers about the benefits of feeding pets unprocessed, real food because we know that fresh food can really make a difference in preventing illness and improving longevity and quality of life. As a company, we are investing heavily in pet nutrition education – a major gap in the US$27 billion North American pet food market.” (GfK)*******

Along with moving into the new facility next month, Shekhtman says she will also be jointly announcing with a major partner the launch of a national education campaign targeting cancer and other significant diseases. The goal of this new partnership will be to educate people about feeding their pets real food and the impact it has on the health and wellness of cats and dogs. This raw revolution is part of a US$8.2 billion “natural pet food” segment which now accounts for 25 percent of the total US pet food market.******
