CEO.CA members discuss high-risk penny stocks which can lose their entire value. Only risk what you can afford to lose.
@MiningBookGuy@Alan - ah, so I agree with everyone's agenda on CEO.CA being "here to make money" (well, 'learning' is OK too, but that also leads to making money!). But I believe many people are skeptical about Rickards, thinking he has a 'hidden agenda' and is actually one of the 'elites' that he writes about. I don't buy into this.
At the same time, there are many ways to 'make money'. I have a pet peeve with hypocrisy, and I've previously called out Rickards for putting down penny mining stocks BEFORE he got involved with them (i don't have a source right now, but i'm sure i could dig stuff up if needed, just not worth my time at the moment). I don't think he's using force or fraud, correct. But IMO, there's a VERY clear difference between what you would get with Agora/Rickards or FMT vs ...let's say Exploration Insights. I think people who have been looking at the mining stock world for a while know what I mean.
Honestly, I don't care all that much (again, everyone's trying to make a buck here). But @FundamentalAnalysis asked about it, so I tried my best to give my own opinion.
@Alan@miningbookguy Yeah I agree with that. Yeah, there's differences between Rickards letter and say Kaiser's or Cook's. They are geologists firstly. I'm not sure #billbonner#rickrule would put their reputation on the line to recommend #rickards if they thought he was untrustworthy. But who knows! Anyhow, what subscription newsletters would people on here recommend?
@FundamentalAnalysis@MiningBookGuy Thanks. Currently I am only aware of $KEFI as a publicly listed company which has an advanced project in Ethiopia, which is currently in financing phase. I have spoken to the enquired with the management, and it looks like they have continuously pushed back the financing deadlines despite mentioning that the government is on Board. My suspicion is the deposit is too small for financiers to take the risk. The grade is also highly variable, and the plan was to finance the mine with mostly debt, so any hiccups during production and they will end up with cash flow issues. Apart from that, I'm not aware of any advanced exploration projects there.
@MiningBookGuy@FundamentalAnalysis - on that point, i trust the content of Jim Rickards' books FAR more than the sales pitch type stuff you may see in various emails. But some of his interviews are quite good, and I catch many of them from his twitter account. if you don't already follow it, might be of interest: https://twitter.com/JamesGRickards
@JTI've never considered Jim Richards to be fear mongering or misleading deliberately misleading people. It strikes me that hes trying to get the message out on a possible outcome which he believes strongly in. As @MiningBookGuy pointed out he has been outspoken about things like SDR's and ICE 9 which are not talked about by the media. It's great to see these viewpoints of what could happen. His material is similar to that of Mike Maloney's Hidden Secrets of Money series which also offers interesting perspectives, and worth the time ever hasn't seen it.
@Joshgsyes and now Rickards is giving a date of Jan 1st. Date always moves.

@MiningBookGuyhey @Joshgs, good to see you made it to ceo.ca! you'll see people are (mostly) friendly around here. this is just the #mbgtrends room i created. but there's a ton of stuff to explore. i'm going to tag #index. you can either click that button to go to the 'main room'. or you can click the big 'CEO.CA' at the top-middle of the screen. and that will show you all the other stuff you can explore.
@MiningBookGuy@Joshgs - anyway, if you have any questions about how to use the site, just ask whatever in the #mbgtrends room, or #newbies. there generally aren't longer discussions that happen in #newbies. but if you scroll up in that room, you will find plenty of good info as well!
@MiningBookGuy@joshgs - btw, your last post was directly in my room-- @Miningbookguy. nothing wrong with that. but it wouldn't show up in #mbgtrends unless you're actually in that room OR you 'tag' #mbgtrends. that might some confusing (it kind of is!). but it's good to get used to this, because a lot of people at ceo.ca still have trouble with it. but once you get the hang of it, you'll see it's really cool to follow conversations that go across different rooms/channels (btw, i tend to say 'rooms', but 'channels' are exactly the same thing, other people might use that).

@MiningBookGuyheh, even @TheDailyGold posted this just in my room: https://ceo.ca/@miningbookguy?5cb09cdbb8e7
i'll tag #mbgtrends so it shows up there. and quick response:
yes, that's a great example of Rickards hyperbole, and not helpful to people that would have listened to that promo call. i'm waiting for his new "The Road to Ruin" book in the mail (should arrive by the end of the day). If I find anything I consider nonsensical, I will share it. but i expect it to be much higher quality than this type of promo. #jimrickards

@MiningBookGuy@Spike - ah, on that point, i think $EDV truly aspires to be 'the next $RRS.L', which implies low-cost, high quality mines and excellent in-house exploration. So they're more willing to open up to try to draw in the type of institutions that #Randgold already has on their registry.
With that said, $RRS.L still has world-class mines that $EDV can only aspire to. But it's so hard to find those mines these days, and $EDV is doing their best to replicate, just on a 'smaller-scale', with 'the best' 100k-200k oz/year mines.
Those are my thoughts as a biased $EDV shareholder. A year ago I felt they could have been acquired. Now I real feel they want to be 'the big winner' as a mid-tier for this cycle, maybe not just for #WestAfrica, but competing across the world! (though I expect them to stick with #WestAfrica for now)
@MiningBookGuy@joshgs - you almost got it! just needed to add an "s" to the end of #mbgtrend :P
no big deal. but it's good to know, because people make tiny errors with tags all the time. they will show up 'somewhere', but it's an entirely different room.
on the other hand, you got the company one right! :)

@MiningBookGuy@joshgs - oh, you also have about 15 minutes to 'edit' your posts if you want to. a lot of people don't use this (i find it especially hard on mobile). but you just click on your post, and then the little picture of the pencil next to 'manage' at the bottom. just a tip in case you ever want to do that (not necessary for your last post)
*EDIT - i'm editing my own post and tagging #mbgtrends#newbies, just in case some #lurkers didn't know about this and might be helpful to them as well!
@MiningBookGuy@FundamentalAnalysis - yes, $KEFI.L$KEFI is the most advanced in #Ethiopia. btw, you will see more posts on $KEFI.L in that room, there was a guy @Paul from the UK who followed it closely, but he hasn't been around in a while.
You can check #Ethiopia room for more info as well. $EAM is trying to move forward with a smaller scale project than $KEFI.L (or I should say multiple projects, but I need to look closer). Anyway, those are some additional rooms to look into if you're interested in #Ethiopia. I would like to see more juniors enter this country, as well as the rest of the #ArabianNubianShield.
*EDIT - i noticed @Paul posted in the $KEFI room. this is a slight issue at ceo.ca -- sometimes you will miss info because of ticker confusion ('KEFI' being AIM listed is supposed to have a '.L' at the end, but many of the posts are just in the 'KEFI' room). Anyway, you have already seen some, and I just realized that.
@MiningBookGuyTanzania: Mining Firms in Tanzania Must Float 30% Stake on Dar Bourse http://allafrica.com/stories/201611150757.html#Tanzania#mining
Hmm, immediate thoughts-- might be some unintended consequences, possibly negative. But government clearly wants mining to be a bigger part of the economy, I liked this quote from the article:
"Tanzania's mining sector has made tremendous progress over the past 20 years but its contribution to the country's GDP has never exceeded five per cent. The government is targeting a 10 per cent contribution to GDP in the next ten years, which is when the country expects to attain middle-income status."
@MiningBookGuybtw, as follow up to that accidental '' post above:
please do introduce yourself if you're new to #mbgtrends! even just saying where you're from is great.
lots of new people hanging out here, some simply new to CEO.CA with plenty of experience in the 'mining stock world' (or just been 'lurking' for a while and never/rarely posted). and some 100%, completely new to this. either way, hoping to help people learn how all this stuff works! :)
