TORONTO, July 5, 2019 /CNW/ - Continental Gold Inc. (TSX:CNL; OTCQX:CGOOF) ("Continental" or the "Company") is pleased to announce that it has closed its previously-announced non-brokered private placement with Eric Sprott (the "Private Placement") through 2176423 Ontario Ltd. (a company which he beneficially owns), pursuant to which the Company issued 10,645,200 common shares of the Company for a total investment of US$25 million. The proceeds of the Private Placement will be used for general working capital and corporate purposes. 

Newmont Goldcorp Corporation ("Newmont") has until July 12, 2019 to exercise its right to maintain its pro rata ownership of the Company in connection with closing the Private Placement. The Company will issue a further press release upon closing if Newmont elects to exercise such right, which is also subject to regulatory approval.
