Season 7 Premiere of Hawaii Five-0 Locked in 1.4 Million Viewers

TORONTO, Sept. 26, 2016 /CNW/ - Viewers couldn't get enough of Global's back-to-back throwbacks on Friday night as the network enjoyed another overnight ratings sweep. With the #1 and #2 series of the night across all key demos, Global beat CTV's primetime lineup by more than 50%.

Jumpstarting the night, the reimagining of the classic series MacGyver captured the #1 spot as 1.7 million viewers (2+) watched the series premiere. Starring Lucas Till and George Eads, the action-packed drama also won all key demos (A18-49, A25-54, A18-34). Meanwhile Global's successful veteran series Hawaii Five-0 returned with a whopping 1.4 million viewers (2+), making it the #2 series of the night and growing its timeslot by 7% year over year (2+).  

Both dramas continue later this week with new episodes. On Friday, September 30, at 8 p.m.ET/PT, MacGyver and the team attempt to rescue Sarah (Amy Acker), Jack's former CIA partner/ex-girlfriend who went missing in Venezuela after she obtained evidence to take down an international arms dealer. Then at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Hawaii Five-0, the team must work with rogue MI-6 agent Harry Langford (guest star Chris Vance) to find a terrorist planning to cause nuclear reactors across Europe to meltdown. Also, McGarrett and Danny ask retired FBI profiler Alicia Brown (guest star Claire Forlani) to help them find their serial killer vigilante.
