CALGARY, May 17, 2016 /CNW/ - Horizon North Logistics Inc. ("Horizon North" or the "Corporation") (TSX – HNL) announced today that it has received reports that Blacksand Executive Lodge has sustained significant damage due to the wildfires burning north of Fort McMurray, Alberta. 

At approximately 10pm on May 16, 2016, Blacksand Executive Lodge, a 665 room facility, along with other lodges on the Aostra Road, was placed on a mandatory evacuation order after gusting winds and high temperatures caused the continued Fort McMurray wildfire to move in its direction.  "Horizon North's top priority is the safety of our guests and employees." stated Rod Graham, President and CEO of Horizon North.  "We safely evacuated Blacksand Executive Lodge as per our Emergency Response Plan and every guest and staff member is safe and accounted for."

Due to active fires near Fort McMurray, Alberta there is currently no access to the Blacksand Executive Lodge facilities.  Horizon North is co-operating with the Alberta Emergency Management Agency and local authorities to ensure the area is safe prior to the return of any staff. 

Further details will be provided once Horizon North is able to regain access and complete its assessment.  Horizon North carries appropriate insurance coverage on all of its assets including those currently at risk.
