OTTAWA, Nov. 18, 2016 /CNW/ - Please be advised that the Honourable Carolyn Bennett, Minister of Indigenous and Northern Affairs, will launch a new #GiftingReconciliation #IndigenousReads campaign this Sunday on National Child Day.

This campaign encourages all Canadian to participate in reconciliation this holiday season by adding an Indigenous book or author to their holiday giving and wish lists. Starting this Sunday and continuing each weekday, Minister Bennett will be sharing on social media a book by Indigenous authors for Canadians to consider. We hope others will join in the conversation with their suggestions.

To launch the campaign, Minister Bennett will be reading the first book, Akilak's Adventure, by Deborah Kigjugalik Webster to children from the community. It's the tale of a young Inuit girl who through her imagination and with her grandmother's spirit, takes a long and grand adventure out on the tundra.‎

Media are invited to attend the event. Following the book reading, the Minister will be available to the media.
