U-Haul Moving & Storage of Kamloops North Shore at 690 Kingston Ave. will begin offering truck and trailer rentals, moving supplies and other services on Nov. 21 after acquiring three former Reichhold® Industries Ltd. buildings.

"I'm excited to have a first-class U-Haul facility dedicated to Kamloops," U-Haul Company of B.C. president Horace Martin said. "This is a growing area near Thompson Rivers University and some of the best ski resorts. We can't wait to serve this community and TRU students."

Renovations to the four-acre property near the Halston Bridge will continue over the next year with the addition of: 699 indoor climate-controlled self-storage units; 28 covered RV and vehicle storage spots; 2,300 square feet of outdoor self-storage units; U-Box portable moving and self-storage containers; towing equipment and professional hitch installation; and propane.

Contact U-Haul Moving & Storage of Kamloops North Shore at (250) 376-0962 or stop by to see our progress. Hours of operation are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Reserve equipment at uhaul.com or contact Reservations at 1-800-GO-UHAUL.

The recent acquisition of the Kamloops facility was driven by U-Haul Company's Corporate Sustainability initiatives: U-Haul® supports infill developments to help local communities lower their carbon footprint. Our adaptive reuse of existing buildings reduces the amount of energy and resources required for new-construction materials and helps cities reduce their unwanted inventory of unused buildings.

"These buildings had been abandoned for at least four years and were in very rough shape," Martin said. "We look forward to taking care of the overgrowth and cleaning up the property to meet the needs of our neighbors."

U-Haul intends to hire locally as services expand, and Martin hopes that local contractors will bid on the renovation work. He hopes to employ at least 20 full- and part-time Team Members once the store is fully operational. Learn more about U-Haul careers at jobs.uhaul.com.
