@MiningBookGuy@Brendan - thanks for mentioning $RSG.AX. They definitely should be looked at as a 'dark horse acquirer'. But for whatever reason, they've publicly focused on 2 potential acquisitions (and current investments) outside of #WestAfrica: $KGL in #DRC#Congo, and $MSR.AX in #Tanzania. I know they have many exploration projects in #WestAfrica, and flagship mine in #Mali (with advanced development in #Ghana). It's a good one to be aware of, and the main reason most people probably don't follow it is because it's only listed on the ASX. #ASX-Stocks
And I agree with you on $TGZ! It feels a lot like $EDV a few years ago, and I am sure this is NOT a coincidence. Who wouldn't want to be 'the next $EDV'? both in growth profile and stock price appreciation :)
@PamplonaTraderBHP, Vale, ShanShan were all stakeholders in the KNP during the last cycle. Norilsk also owned assets in the immediate area including the Cawse HPAL plant, which is currently on C&M. $ARL.AX is both a cheap option on #cobalt#nickel as well as a #DRC put (a situation which I believe will come to a head by y/e). Robert Friedland, Rick Rule are believers in the cobalt story. Waterton Global and $RNX are also players. For #cobalt speculators, I can't think of a better assymetric trade than $ARL.AX.
@0Kib2000 sq KM prospective tenements adjacent to a large producer (0.6m oz/yr).RC/Diamond rilling campaign on to define the resource. Both quartz and sulphide #Gold mineralization. Best #DRC geologist.Probably a 5m oz property eventually (my guess). $ANL.AX#KlausEckhof
@MiningBookGuyRE-POSTING for proper tagging + comments:
Randgold Resources: Kibali heads for full production @marketwired/randgold-resources-kibali-heads-for-full-production$RRS.L#Randgold#Kibali#DRC#Congo~AUfrica
Very impressive mine...but also a very important #DRC#Congo#MiningCode concern. I will copy the full quote at the end of the NR, this is worth monitoring for ~AUfrica followers:
[It was a source of concern, however, that the DRC government had once again signalled its intention of reviewing the country's 2002 #miningcode with the clear intention of maximising state revenue, Bristow said. This could have a very negative impact not only on the mining industry but also on the economy.
"Now more than ever the #DRC should be focused on retaining its existing investors and attracting new ones. It's certainly not the time to harvest more from less for short term gain. It's my sincere hope that this time round the government will engage the mining sector fully in the proposed review to achieve an outcome that will be in the best interests of the Congolese economy as well as the country's mining sector," he said.
"The existing code is in fact a good one but it is not always being applied effectively and there are still many mining operations that do not operate under the code. There are also a number of issues and challenges which mining companies are having to face which make operating in the DRC more challenging. In #Kibali's case, these issues include more than $200 million in unpaid TVA and duty refunds."]
@MiningBookGuy@FundamentalAnalysis - got a lot i need to catch up on in #mbgtrends today! but to answer your question, $AUE.L$AUE (was Aureus Mining, now Avesoro $ASO$ASO.L )was a bigger disaster than $BAA, especially because i think even more issues came from poor management. both poor operations and poor financings (ex. massive dilution because management didn't have skin-in-the-game). i almost bought shares many times, luckily didn't. like $BAA, there were uncontrollable factors (both #DRC and #Liberia have all sorts of issues, both gold). So it makes an interesting 'disaster comparison'
*EDIT - just noticed $AUE.L$AUE charts still intact at CEO.CA! that's helpful to follow key points where the stock got slammed.
@0Kib"High grade mineralisation was intersected in all infill holes lines with exceptional results of 36m at 6.56g/t Au from 14m including 14m at 15.15g/t Au from 15m and 65m at 7.73g/t Au from 74m including 44m at 10.69g/t Au from 85m...Completion of the infill programme is expected around end of April 2017, with all results reported by mid-May 2017. The maiden mineral resource estimate is expected in June 2017" Adding more $ANL.AX#Gold#DRC
@0Kib$NZC.AX I should be buying more of this. The contained metal ( #Copper, #Cobalt in equal $ quantum) is equivalent to 7g/t of Au. That's just exceptional. No known metallurgical issues. And it's shallow and adjacent to $IVN's #Kamoa#Kakula in #DRC so infrastructure is no problem. Cashed up ($10m+ or 20% market cap is cash) and drilling now to expand the resource. 90%+ float cornered by institutions.
@0Kib$ANL.AX added more this open. There is a nice little overhang of 400m+ 5c options that expire in July and tax loss selling at June end. That should maybe keep it rangebound and provide an opportunity to accumulate it. Maiden resource estimate expected soon. Drilling ongoing #Gold#DRC
@0KibBut it is good to have the Chinese in a difficult jurisdiction like #DRC - a small insurance policy a-la $IVN.... I think eventually this will be a 5m+ oz #gold property (adjacent to a 20m oz operating mine) $ANL.AX
@MiningBookGuy@FundamentalAnalysis - ah, so on Platreef, the thing is #platinum was SUPPOSED to be one of the huge outperformers over the last year or two.
What happened?? where did all the #platinum / #palladium bulls go? I know there are some still out there. But notice how we always hear IVN/copper these days? And even worse, #SouthAfrica has more negativity going for it than #DRC Congo.
I'm not saying Platreef is 'bad'. But I am saying that IVN cleverly adapted the message. IVN COULD have focused on Platreef with all the recent messaging IF PGMs and South Africa were doing better, AND there wasn't a major Kakula discovery.
It's just something worth thinking about as a case-study. IMO, I think IVN has played their hand as well as they could have the last few years (at least so far). It's worth thinking about how this plays out in other companies that have multiple projects, because IVN is currently the 'gold standard' on how to do it right (*and please note I'm not a shareholder) #mbgtrends
@0KibHere's an example of a high grade, shallow, top quartile ASIC copper resource - Kalongwe owned by $NZC.AX. It has ~1.3bn Lbs of 2.7% CuEq grades or grades nearly 3x (!) that of $CDB. Owns 85% of project economics and trades at just 2.3c/lb because it's #DRC. It is 18-24 months away from first production. Arguably the cheapest high quality copper resource out there. Interestingly, Kalongwe used to be owned by #RobertFriedland and is just 13 Kms from $IVN's Kamoa-Kakula.
@fb$NZC.AX land package permit covers 350,000 hectares (3,500sq km), huge discovery potential. And the fact that this is an open pit deposit with all the existing infrastructure. The quality clean copper concentrates (300,000 ton high grade copper, not Cu equivalent mix with gold) always find home even if it is in #DRC. @0Kib
@DanOToday, a private investment group hired me to analyze/do dd on a co and their advanced exploration #DRC#copper#cobalt project. The interesting fact is that they already own an interest in the co. I wanted to highlight this so you (investors) would understand that it makes a lot of sense to do dd on your investment AFTER you have already invested (not only before). Don't just pray and wait for the miracle to happen. Your wife and/or bank account are going to resent that. Pay the coin and get valuable info on the project. I will tell you what's really happening behind closed curtains and most importantly what will happen medium and long-term. Is that little project ever going to be a mine? Is it attractive enough to stir up passions and tickle a major to make them open their purse and acquire the co? What if the hundreds of parameters that they use in estimations are bad? Get the good, the bad and the ugly. Then decide what to do with your investment money. http://www.miningandmoney.com/about
@MiningBookGuyDR Congo jailbreak frees 900 inmates http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/40242338 h/t @sndwky#DRC#Congo#jailbreak#Africa~AUfrica#index
"Eleven people were killed when militants attacked a prison in the Democratic Republic of Congo and freed more than 900 inmates, officials say."
"The incident in Beni is the latest in a series of jailbreaks in the country.
Last month about 4,000 inmates escaped from a high security prison in the capital Kinshasa following an attack blamed on a separatist sect."
@drezinhoSounds like Eckhof is taking a page from Friedland's playbook. "We are trying to get the resource up to 4-5 moz hopefully, that's basically the target. With the backing of the Chinese, we can be fairly aggressive." Giro is only 30km away from the 17 moz Kibali gold mine - the Randgold Resources Ltd/AngloGold Ashanti Ltd JV which Eckhof was instrumental in discovering. He is already noticing similarities between it and Giro. "Kibali, I mean that is pretty much the same as [Giro] in volcanoclastic rocks. You have also got the granodiorite intrusions. It is pretty much the same sort of setting," Eckhof said. "The question is if I have got multiple resources everywhere, I haven't got that yet. But then again... it took me four or ; five years to develop all the other separate deposits [at Kibali]." Made up of two exploration permits covering 497sq km, the Giro project sits within the largely unexplored Kilo-Moto belt. $ANL.AX#Kibali#Gold#DRC
