@ekim$MPVD rallied to CAD$4.75 and stuck like crazy glue to that price for the last half of trading. I predict a bought deal will be announced next week at CAD$4.75 to help alleviate the cash call issue. #diamonds
@ekimDermot Desmond, the irish billionaire buying shares on the open market on the venture exchange. $KDI Quite odd as he usually does financings, etc. to funnel $$'s into the stocks and hence into the projects. #diamonds He owns 14.5% now of $KDI and a good chunk of $MPVD too.
@JamesKwantesBeen an eventful few days in Botswana, which South African neighbours think of as "boring." Started by seeing and holding Lesedi La Rona, then site visit (pit and mill), then 6.5 earthquake - and early-morning 5.0 aftershock that I slept through. Today, George W. and Laura Bush flew out of Gaborone after a visit re women's health/HIV. We had to stop for the motorcade. @ekim$DIA has some drill ready targets near Gahcho Kue....but looks like the fall financing was enough to pay the bills and not much else. Potential here..but no potential without the drill bit turning. #diamonds
@ekim@JamesKwantes - All eyes on Naujaat? Not sure how far $5 million will go on Naujatt. I'm actually more curious at the first drillbit going into Mel. Haven't had a pure kimberlite grassroots hit in Canada in a very long time. A lot of strike outs in the last couple of years including $CVV and $ATV. $NAR has done the homework on Mel. See if they can get a reward.
@ekim@RocketRed they have not found a flagship stone at Kelvin/Faraday yet. Maybe they will get lucky this time. $KDI#diamonds As far as Gahcho Kue...they did acknowledge the finding of a 150 Carat...which is a very decent size compared to the original lac de gras projects. Problem is that it was ugly and boart. Game of statistics...the next 150 carat stone might be clear ice...and then boart after that.
@ekimI wonder if William Lamb $LUC left the board of directors on $NAR so that they could make room for a board representative for either Ross Beaty or Electum. I think that makes sense...but sometimes you have to put the pieces together after the fact. It seemed strange that Lamb would leave the board of directors at the time. #diamonds
@ekimDe Beers sticking to the synthetic diamond producers. Synthetic diamonds will always have a carbon footprint as they require energy to make the stones and have nothing to do with kimberlite material. De Beers is basically saying that diamonds mined at a minesite could be carbon neutral if the kimberlite's natural ability to absorb carbon with a large surface area on the kimberlite material is used appropriately. Might even be a carbon credit. This video talks about it -- http://www.cnbcafrica.com/videos/2017/05/09/de-beers-aims-for-carbon-neutral-mining/#diamonds
@ekim@MiningBookGuy#Sierraleone diamond will be kept intact as a rough diamond specimen to show the world. The $LUC one is going to be sliced and diced into some very fine and large #diamonds. The path of these two diamonds will be quite different.
@MiningBookGuy@JamesKwantes - thanks. i'll copy @Ekim post here, provided additional insight:
[ #Sierraleone diamond will be kept intact as a rough diamond specimen to show the world. The $LUC one is going to be sliced and diced into some very fine and large #diamonds. The path of these two diamonds will be quite different.]
@JamesKwantesCheers @MiningBookGuy. Acc to $LUC CEO William Lamb at AGM yesterday (in answer to a query from jr diamond guy Paul Brockington), govt of Botswana was interested in retaining the Lesedi La Rona. But spending that kind of cash on a diamond a tough sell compared to what could be provided citizens with $$ (LUC paid US$100M plus in taxes to #Botswana last year) #diamonds
@JamesKwantes$DDC looking good at 52-week highs (hit $24 in 2015). I can see CPP Investment Board jumping in as an investor but doubt they would bid outright for the company (re: recent Reuters report) #diamonds
@ekim@JamesKwantes CPPIB jumping in on $DDC tells me that if the CPPIB is looking at home for some hard assets...then there has been a slaughter in the industry. It is pretty clear to me that #diamonds with Canada and Canadian investors have a very estranged relationship. One only needs to look at a lot of investment attitudes on even this forum when it comes to Diamonds. Clear distinction compared to other commodities and not in a good way. Even look at $MPVD first attempt at financing Gahcho Kue involved leaving Canada altogether and looking once again at our great Monarchy.
@JamesKwantesTrue enough @ekim but I wouldn't write off Cdn diamonds-Canadian investment link just yet. Dare say most jr mining participants also ignorant of the shareholder wealth that has been created by Canadian #diamonds. New successes needed to re-establish that connection, for sure
@ekim$DDC announces a maiden resource with a rock value of around $30 per tonne at Leslie Pipe. Don't think the milling costs would pay for that...let alone mining it. #diamonds Definitely a sign of a bottom in the diamond sector.
@JamesKwantesRe #diamonds and millenials - have seen a couple of the "Real is Rare" videos & they're not bad. Also synthetic diamonds require enormous amounts of electricity to make. Greener? Maybe not
@ekim$KDI has officially deferred the Faraday 2 results from mid-may (missed that deadline) to end of May. Nice that you can just reset the date once you have already missed the initial date. They were about -6 million working capital on March 31st...so at least half of the financing is already gone. The Faraday 2 parcel should be around 600 carats and should be available end of May. Then Faraday 3 will be out at the end of June. That should be the last parcels of any reasonable quantity anywhere in Canada for at least another year. #diamonds.
@ekim$NAR is not the only ones with fancy orangey/yellow diamonds. $KDI and Dr. Rory Moore have just confirmed today that they officially have fancy Yellow stones in the Faraday 2 deposit in the macro sizes. #diamonds
@JamesKwantesCouldn't help but notice $KDI's largest 3 stones -- 4.72c, 4.28c & 3.45c -- in that latest NR very comparable in size to 3 largest from $NAR's Naujaat (4.42c, 4.16c, 3.53c). Kennady's parcel was twice the size (carats) of $NAR's as well #diamonds
