@Allan racker, I talk about Homeless on Hastings project lots in here. What makes our project work so well is we don't need a lot of money because we have a lot of helping hands. Always looking for more helping hands. Starting in January we will be going down 2 days a month. One team preparing in Cloverdale/Langley area, and one team in North Vancouver, if anybody is interested in helping out just let me know.

@Allan I see the PM and Premier of province talk about the opiate problem, and I wonder if any of them have even bothered to come down to the DTES and spend some time with folks. If they did they would have a much better chance of coming up with useful ideas. Much harder when relying on studies and research that doesn't seem to get anything done. I can tell folks that in the past few months the problem with heroin and fentanyl have broken out of control. I'm afraid more studies and politics aren't going to do much, get those politicians to spend some time out on the street.

@T not sure about Canada @Allan, but opiates is also a big problem where i grew up in Boston. unfortuantely i blame the very loose government regulations in the past surrounding prescription pills as the reason it has gotten out of control. had buddies that were running down to florida because the pain clinics down there were giving them away like candy. gov't finally decided to step in but did it in a way that everyone now needed to quit cold turkey. pills dried up and everyone turned to H. have had a lot of buddies in the past 5 or so years end up dead because of it.

@CriticalInvestor $MIN The Florence project receiving its UIC permit (they already had the APP) for the test facility is actually very good news for my sponsor Excelsior Mining, especially considering the severe local situation which cannot be compared to Gunnison https://www.ceo.ca/@newswire/taseko-receives-final-permit-for-florence-copper-test

@Allan @T I agree that doctors prescribing opiates for pain has caused a lot of addiction with people that may have never done drugs until they first got one prescribed. I don't think it is the whole problem but certainly a contributor. This fentanyle is unreal, it is cheap and the addicts don't care if it will kill them. The government tried to help by getting more of the drug to give people who are overdosing, but even with that the volume of people using and addicted is going through the roof and deaths from overdose have increased by around 40% year on year even with more of the drug to treat someone overdosing out there.

@drilltracker @allan @T agreed cheap prescription opiates are an issue in Canada. Two weeks a ago a person very close to me had major back surgery. She was given a prescription for hydromorphone. Cost was $28 for 50 pills (3-4 pills times 3 times per day). To treat the extreeme nausea cased by the opiates she was given an anti nausea - $25 per pill four times a day. She stopped the pain killers and the nausea went away (as did the pain she was told she needed the opiates for). If she was so inclined she could easy have got more opiates and there the problem starts. She is lucky she hated how she felt and it was not in her nature to abuse them. It is so easy to fall off the slippery slope.

@T @allan, @drilltracker the problem in the US was from these "pain clinics" as they were dubbed, that were located in florida. they werent real doctors. friends i knew that were going down there would complain about back and neck issues (not real) and these "doctors" prescribed them 2-300 percocet 30 per month! that is a ridiculous number. and they could go to multiple doctors. picking up the pills for $2/ea. selling in Boston for 10-15 times that. go there, spend 5k and flip for 50k in a couple days. there was zero regulation. the receptionists at these places would be driving a porsche and the doctors had lambo's

@DanO It is very important that $tko 's test is successful not only for their copper recovery tune up but for 'its environmental integrity and reliability'. If they manage to pull that then approval for other similar projects ( $min ) is going to be easier. Of course that each project is different and comes with a unique set of challenges but they have to show the people that this method is safe and they do not pollute the aquifer. Btw no standalone commercial in-situ recovery copper operation ever existed.

@newstracker The Canadian Way, instead of deregulating the industry to allow more competition and cheaper prices the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission is setting up a fund that will draw on revenues from Internet as well as voice services and invest up to $750-million over five years in expanding broadband access to remote parts of the country. The regulator ruled Wednesday that high-speed Internet with download speeds of at least 50 megabits per second will now be considered “basic telecom service” that all Canadians should be able to access. Again, the Canadian telecom consumer is left with most likely a heftier bill. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/crtc-rules-high-speed-internet-a-basic-telecom-service/article33405960/?
