@MiningBookGuy @Xriva - have no idea on "bank account in Jakarta". But your question made me think of the articles I saw on "opening a bank account in #Mongolia" back in 2012. here's one of them I remember seeing: How to Open a Bank Account that Pays 16% http://dailyreckoning.com/how-to-open-a-bank-account-that-pays-16/ I think this would have been a disaster on multiple fronts, main reason being that the Mongolian #tugrik has been heavily devalued since then. Maybe things will work out better for the #rupiah in #Indonesia. But keep this in mind. #currency #ForeignBankAccount

@newstracker #China closes border with Mongolia due to visit by the Dalai Lama - The boarder closure is causing problems for Rio Tinto and its hauliers with trucks bearing copper from Oyu Tolgoi mine being held in freezing temperatures at the border and then rerouted into China via another crossing. - Rio Tinto $RIO.L is looking to expand Oyu Tolgoi to 500,000tpa by 2027 from the current target of 200,000tpa. @MiningBookGuy @nicholaslepan RE: https://ceo.ca/index?04abeb562ad3 - some more 'extreme' examples are #Nigeria #Kenya #Myanmar #Iran. I've added positive signals to all of those rooms. There are many other countries/jurisdictions that haven't necessarily been "unfriendly to mining", but are improving simply because of increased stability. Oh, #mongolia could be turning around too. I created the #MiningCode room and haven't added to it for a while. You can find some interesting articles there too.

@nicholaslepan #Mongolia was the world's fastest-growing economy. Now, by nearly every metric, it's in a dire fix. Its debt has surged, its currency has plummeted, and its budget deficit has widened alarmingly. Foreign investment has dried up and economic growth all but ceased. Even the poor antelope are beset by plague. https://www.bloomberg.com/view/articles/2017-02-12/how-the-world-s-fastest-growing-economy-went-bust

@nicholaslepan #Mongolia – votes to nationalise Erdenet #copper mine - Mongolian parliament votes to nationalise the Erdenet copper mine following a ruling declaring the $400m sale of the mine by Rostec (Russia) to Copper Copper Corp, a little known local firm. - The mine produces 530,000t of copper concentrate grading 23-25% for around 127,200tpa of copper and 4,500t of moly concentrate containing 2,205tpa of molybdenum metal. The mine is a major contributor to the Mongolian economy and has been a significant to the economy of Mongolia through its 38 year history. - The complex sale is reported to have used multiple shell companies controlled by the Trade and Development Bank and its staff and to have used borrowed funds from the Mongolian Central Bank. Me thinks there is more to this than meets the eye? - Mongolia is the world’s seventh largest exporter of copper concentrates just behind Canada and Peru. http://www.spangel.co.uk/

@Excelsior @Slmjr - $KRI Khan Resources was the preeminent Mongolian #Uranium explorer & developer in the last cycle. They put out an impressive Feasibility Study, but in 2009-2010 the Mongolian government decided to try and nationalize their assets and wanted 51% of the deposit, and eventually would not renew their licenses. It sat dead in the water and stalled until 2015 where they won a judgement from the Mongolian government, and it is now over $100 million they are due (but of course, they're still waiting on the check.....) http://www.khanresources.com/ *That didn't set too nice of a precedent for Uranium mining in #Mongolia, but they have deposits that the government will monetize. @FundamentalAnalysis - Great points about alternative #Uranium feed from Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Africa, Australia, Russia, and many nations to feed the energy demands in India, China, and other parts of Asia. There is more to Uranium mining than just Canada for sure, and while they may not have the high grade of the Athabasca Basin, they have easier permitting, cheap labor, less underground water issues, and better currency exchanges in many cases. #mbgtrends

@MiningBookGuy @BS - thanks for sharing on $KCC http://www.kincoracopper.com/ website is not working for me right now. but i was able to dig up this recent article: http://www.reuters.com/article/mongolia-kincora-idUSL5N1GK1S6 it includes this quote: [So far Kincora has 10 licences, giving it acreage of 15,000 square kilometres (5,800 square miles), and has applied for two more. Spring says the company has overtaken Rio "as the most aggressive group" exploring in this area.] and from your article (reposting link: http://bit.ly/2ngPoOa ), here's a quote that stood out to me: [...However, unlike other recent copper success stories, like SolGold and Cordoba, Kincora has consolidated the dominant position in the belt, and now looking to make a discovery, or two given the scale of our portfolio. These other groups have made the discovery and are now looking at the next one and consolidating their respective districts.”] The thing is, THIS is one of my main sells on $MOD.AX (and to a slightly lesser extent $MTR.L ). $MOD.AX has 11000+ sqkm. of 70% or 100% owned land. I thought this could have been the biggest #copper #districtplays out there...but amazing to hear ~15000 sqkm for $KCC! On this note, $KCC is more impressive, in a much more proven area for #copper mining. On the other hand, I strongly believe #Botswana wipes the floor with #Mongolia as a jurisdiction (even though I like #Mongolia potential). $KCC is definitely moving up my #copper watch list, thanks again for sharing @BS! #mbgtrends

@MiningCatalyst Oyu Tolgoi is now the primary target for $KCC after East Tsagaan Suvarga. Two drill target are ready for OT, no indicating yet as of when drilling will begin. They are doing some fieldwork right now. They recently completed a 500k PP. I won't be surprised if they would raise some additional funds to start drilling (less dilutive SP right now) But drilling is very cheap in #Mongolia ($45/m DD) So they should have sufficient funds for the initial drill holes.

@awgiddens $kcc talk about #skininthegame... "In this regard the Company proposes to issue annually shares having a dollar value of up to US$458,160 (CDN$603,000). Such shares would represent over 70% of the total compensation to be paid to the senior executive management, the technical committee and independent directors of the Company and would be issued quarterly in arrears"...... accepting 70% of their salaries as share-based compensation is quite the vote of confidence. #mongolia #porphyry #friedland

@MiningBookGuy @dirkdiggler @RocketRed - for #Hemlo area, 384 hectares very well could be important. But in general, I think @RocketRed is correct. I believe 100 hectares = 1 sq km. therefore, 384 hectares = 3.84 sq km...doesn't sound so impressive now, does it? On the other hand, @rocketred tends to disregard far-off, 'risky' jurisdictions. But that's where I find awesome sized, prospective land packages, like $MOD.AX with 11000+ sq km in #Botswana, or $ORG with originally ~7000 sq km (and now down to a 'paltry' ~3750 sq km based on jurisdiction requirements). But there are plenty of other places too, like #Mongolia, some 'far-off' parts of #Canada, and one I'm really getting interested in for 'district-scale, safe'... #Australia Anyway, just wanted to make this point on both sides...personally, I don't like the mixing of 'hectares' and 'square kilometers'. But it's not as bad as when you see 'feet', mostly for US focused companies! lol #DistrictPlays #LandPackages

@MiningBookGuy @JamesKwantes - whoa! the #Polyus website gives me vertigo if i scroll down really quickly on the homepage. But yes, that is a good map in the slides. I do wonder about #Russia #Mongolia relationship, and how it will change in the coming years. #Mongolia does plenty of trade with #China, not sure if they do as much with #Russia right now. @MiningBookGuy @JamesKwantes - well "being in a country" doesn't necessarily mean it's a good relationship ;) I'm sure you could get thoughts from Koreans and Japanese on that matter! I think #Mongolia is in a very interesting spot, and it's possible they are even more friendly with Canadians and Americans than either Russia or China. Will that continue? Clearly #RobertFriedland saw something that very few others did a few decades ago, because people thought he was crazy to enter #Mongolia. I don't know where this is headed. But IF #Russia really cozied up to #Mongolia while #Russia relationship with the Western world really soured, that potentially is a negative on Western investment. I'm not saying that will happen. But that's the type of thing I think about when you brought up the interesting point of #Polyus possibly getting interested in #Mongolia, or $ERD more specifically. #geopolitics

@JamesKwantes True enough on #Mongolia and #Russia @MiningBookGuy - it's not dissimiliar to Canada's relationship with the U.S, the minnow and the whale. There may be differences from time to time (eg right now lol). But the two countries and economies are so intertwined that good relations -- or at least a working relationship -- only makes sense. Will add that it's a principle apparently lost on The Donald when it comes to Mexico
