Bob Geldof's Live Aid was held on Saturday, July 13 1985, in both London and Philadelphia. Phil Collins performed at Wembley Stadium, then flew straight to JFK stadium on his private jet to perform for 100,000 fans on the same day.

You can imagine my shock when on Sunday morning, I was summoned to Executive Air in Richmond to pick up Phil Collins off of his private jet. He was here to visit his son, who lived 15 minutes away in a Richmond cul-de-sac. Engaging, friendly, well rested, and full of energy, Phil told me that this would be an hour or so visit, then back to the jet. He would be heading back to London for a session in the recording studio.

Taking advantage of his chatty mood, and after discussing some of the details of his three-country round-trip back to the UK in 72 hours, I asked him about the 1964 Beatles movie - A Hard Days Night. Was it true? Were you in it? "Yes. I was a big fan, and thrilled to be an extra."

Phil Collins in A Hard Day's Night

Arriving at his ex's house, there were a few neighbors waiting with their Kodak's, and he was only too happy to pose for a few pictures. After approximately ten minutes, a recognizable song blared out of one of the open windows. It was the two year old Huey Lewis And The News song - The Heart Of Rock & Roll - accompanied by what was obviously, a nine year old Simon Collins on the drums.

A few of the neighbors smiled at me, when the song stopped, then started again. Yes, dad was now playing along with Huey Lewis. This was a big deal for the fans on the block. This was a great memory for all of us. And that was it -- back to the jet, and off he went, never to be seen again. Phil Collins was a class act.

The reason for this weeks memory was due to a dinner invitation I attended last weekend with close friends. They were asked who was their all time favorite rock stars. They said Phil Collins and Tina Turner. Meeting Tina three times over a nine year period, is quite a story, which needs to be told soon.

Being a research junkie, I was curious to know how things turned out for young Simon, who I had not thought of, nor heard anything about, in 31 years this July. This picture was taken approximately two years after the house visit:

It was a delightful surprise to find out how well he turned out:

Future stories will include David Bowie, ZZ Top, Simon and Garfunkel, Frank Zappa, Van Halen, Bob Seger, John Cougar, Eddie Murphy, the Plaza Hotel, and many more.

Dow 2000, Gold 1400 Update

The Dow is still up 2370 points from Black Monday (August 24th), or 15% higher.

Gold is up over $230 from the November lows and if the seasonal rise continues, we could see another $100 added to the price, to reach our 1400 target.

Gold Seasonality Over 30 Years

Legendary market player Stanley Druckenmiller was at it again last week telling everyone to buy gold and get out of the stock market. Ignoring him on the Dow and agreeing with him on gold has worked out very well.

Drukenmiller and other "bullionaire" gold tweets setting up for this years gold run going back to the day before Black Monday (Source).

"Druckenmiller, who has one of the best long-term track records in money management, said the stock market bull market has “exhausted itself” and that gold “remains our largest currency allocation.” (Source)

The World Gold Council quoted Druckenmiller mid-week too.

The S&P usually bounces up off of this chart.

The BergDex Trio

The BergDex group of 14 stocks were up an average of 95% each for the week.

The three gentlemen have over 100 years of experience between them. As a team, they all have unique skills that complement each other, and work tirelessly from early morning to late at night when a unique opportunity presents itself.

The trio have directly, and indirectly been responsible for the eventual rise in market caps and takeovers from $100 million to close to a billion dollars on more than a few occasions. With all of the impressive analytical talent in the junior mining space, very few can match lucky Dr.7's track record:

- Dr. 7 is one of the most prolific mine finders in Canadian history.

- 46 years of international experience.

- His brilliant exploration strategies have led to the discovery of eleven significant gold, silver, copper, zinc, phosphate and uranium deposits.

- Seven of these went on to become producing gold mines in Canada.

- He was the driving force behind the discovery and development of the Timmins West Gold Mining Camp, a kissing cousin to the legendary Timmins Camp which produced over 70 M Oz gold over 100 years.

- On April 1, 2016 Lake Shore accepted a friendly $945M takeover offer by Tahoe Resources Inc.

- He played a key role in the discovery and development of six gold mines in Quebec, Ontario and the Canadian Arctic increasing the market cap from $25M to $1B.

- These companies were eventually taken over by Barrick Gold and Patino.

- He is the founder of Holmer Gold Mines Inc, which discovered the first silver deposit in Cuba which Columbus was looking for 500 years ago.

There are three additions to this weeks BergDex, which will be included in next week's performance:

Talking our Books

On the February 29th "Acorn" report, there was a comment about how the cobwebs are coming off the wallets. It gets wilder every week with dozens of new PP announcements:

"There were 150 financings in April 2016, compared with 98 in the previous month and 98 in April 2015."

The BeckDex 50 had 11 new highs for the week:

DMA NFR KES GPH PRS.H IDM BAY GGS PGM SBB MAG

The majority of lithium stocks may be taking a breather getting ready for round two. They did a great job, starting in September, as we waited for the precious and base metal juniors to come back to life. Having positions in all of these areas, including some in the oil and gas sector have been extremely rewarding.

Golden Triangle stocks (CXO, IDM, and AOT) dominated the CEO.CA chat site again last week. From May 1st to May 7th, $CXO received 74 mentions. CXO dropped to a low of 0.295 on Wednesday after announcing a $4.03 million private placement, and recovered to close the week at 0.39 on 3.107 mil shares volume over 5 days. CXO looks like it's going higher soon.

IDM's volume for the week was an impressive 11.257 mil shares.

GPH hit a 52 week high of 0.175 after the Bob Cross influenced stock announced positive news on the company's Graphite Creek deposit near Nome, Alaska. This one has more life in it.

Two other CEO.CA long time favorites BAY and SBB continue to trend higher. BAY should hit .50 soon, while SBB has $2 in its sites.

MAG broke out to a nine year intraday high of 17.11 on Friday, from its 8.13 low last July.

Giustra's GGS hit .67 last Monday before backing off to close the week at 0.57, as everyone waits to see what kind of deal Frank makes. His CCY and SSP settled down a bit, while LIX is still in a corrective phase.

The be-away-in-May talk is still out there, and showing up on a few stocks. Be on the lookout for the outliers, that will defy the seasonal trend. Several of the BeckDex 50 stocks price movements will impress investors - by February 15 - prior to next years anticipated PDAC curse.
