I'm a big fan of using tech tools to get a better idea of what is happening in the markets. This lead me to online stock chat sites since the mid-1990s, the team at CEO.CA have built the best one that I've ever participated in. I started using it when it was launched and have been hooked ever since.
Recently, they revamped the look of the chat and I really like the design, far too often when changes are made, designers go overboard. Not with the team here, it is a clean design, the main focus is the chat stream with well-placed features to the left and right. All the best stuff is centre stage and the stuff on the sides complements the stream perfectly.
What makes the chat such a great tool for investors is the quality of the people that post on the chat. It is a diverse group of sharp investors, mining company executives, industry professionals and market commentators.
One of my favourite things about the group of commenters is the high quality of analysis that often happens when news is breaking. It gets to the heart of the news really quickly and picks out the pros and cons. This type of research, done in real time, by experienced people is truly unique.
I've written a lot about the turn in the gold market, which is often a leader of the metals market in general. We went through a long-term bear market in metals since gold topped in 2011 and then made a bottom in December 2015. A new bullish phase has started, as the market gains strength, more investors will come looking for the best place for commentary on the mining sector in Canada.
As they do, it won't take them long to find their way to CEO.CA and the chat site. When it gets stronger, the kind of commentary that happens here will be increasingly important to give investors a valuable advantage.
Another of my favourite things about the chat site is what happens when someone enters with a real stock promotion. You know the type, with their you have to buy the stock now because big news is coming and the stock is going to jump. They quickly get called out and it becomes clear to them this isn't the place to come to flog stock.
Whenever I see my friends in the industry at conferences, I show them the app on my phone and tell them they should be on the site. I always tell viewers of my show to check it out as well. I believe strongly in the value of this tool for industry professionals and investors alike.
This is my first shot using the article writing feature. I really wanted to use my first post to say why I enjoy the site so much and spend so much time here, and promote it to everybody that will listen to me.
I also wanted to say congratulation to Tommy Humphreys and his team, and thank you, for building a must needed tool in the industry. You guys have done a wonderful job.
