LÉVIS, QC, Dec. 5, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - A few weeks after becoming the first shipyard in Canada to earn the ISO 9001:2015 certification, Davie Shipbuilding succeeded in meeting the latest globally-recognised environmental standards.

Davie Shipbuilding, the largest shipbuilder in Canada with its extensive production capacity, has successfully implemented an environmental management system based on ISO 14001:2015, thereby promoting environmental stewardship at all levels.

Jared Newcombe, Chief Executive Officer noted "Davie has a history of rising to the challenge. Regulatory requirements, public concerns, climate change and of course, Davie's forward thinking, which is an integral part of our DNA, have pushed us to take this additional step to show our know-how and dedication to the marine industry. "

Developed along three main lines, such as compliance with environmental laws, continuous improvement and pollution prevention. Davie's environmental management system had to go through a full and comprehensive audit in order to obtain the coveted seal of excellence. The ISO 14001:2015 certification, issued by the International Organization for Standardization, recognizes, among other things, the organization's ability to implement proactive measures to preserve the environment from harm and degradation.

By achieving this certification, Davie Shipbuilding has reaffirmed its commitment to government agencies, shipowners and all aspects of the environment it conducts business in. This, in combination, with a solid five-year collective agreement, the largest shipbuilding capacity in Canada, and close to 1,000 motivated and committed employees. In short, Davie Shipbuilding raises the bar for excellence, once again.
