Fast-talking financial analyst JC Parets lit up the room at the Subscriber Investment Summit in Vancouver, Canada on October 11, 2016 when he spoke about technical analysis and his views of the gold market.

"We’re in the market for one reason: to make money," Parets told the audience of roughly 500 gold-interested investors. "If you’re in the market for any other reason, you’re very confused."

JC is the founder and editor of www.AllStarCharts.com, a popular blog and premium newsletter focused on money flows. It helps investors make sense of what sectors and asset classes to be long or short at any given time.

Parets explains:

"Markets move based on institutions, the buy side, the guys that wake up on Monday morning and have $1 billion to allocate and have to put to work."

"Buy-side money wants momentum and relative strength. The biggest money in the world looks for those two things."

"Technical Analysis is the study of supply and demand… A chart is the perfect representation of the changes in equilibrium between supply and demand."

"Opportunity cost needs to be part of the risk calculation. If you’re in something not moving for six months, that money could have been better used elsewhere."

"When money is moving into emerging market currencies… there’s probably going to be demand for the stocks as well."

"If you’re a stock market bull you want to see junk bonds outperforming investment grade."

Parets is optimistic for a renewed bull market in the gold sector, after this year's gains have a chance to digest.

"In my opinion we’re in the midst of a structural bull market in precious metals, however tactically in the short term there’s a ton of opportunity cost to be in the space… This is the time to be greedy and really wait for perfect opportunities. It’s a buyers market and use that to your advantage."

"When silver is outperforming gold, that is an environment for precious metals, the market is suggesting there is risk appetite. If you’re a gold bull, you want silver outperforming gold."
