@mikeGold Summary for Oct. 24, 20162016-10-24 20:56 ET - Market Summaryby Stockwatch Business ReporterMurray Nye's Winston Gold Mining Corp. (WGC), down 13 cents to 48 cents on 898,000 shares, has started a 1,500-metre drill program at its Winston gold project in central Montana. This first phase of drilling will complete between 15 and 20 holes using two rigs that will target potential high-grade mineralization in the Custer and Edna veins. Winston last drilled the project two years ago when it was still a private company. While that program centred on the old Custer vein, several holes encountered high-grade gold in a second vein system that the company named Edna.
The old Custer mine, which began sporadic production not long after General George Custer met his demise, eventually produced 100,000 ounces of gold at an average grade of about 20 grams per tonne until it closed in the early 1900s. The surrounding area has been drilled by subsequent explorers, most of which were interested in the project as a low-grade, high-tonnage deposit. That is not the case with Winston. Harold Gunsinger, director of operations, says the drill results along the Edna trend will "tell me where the best place is to begin drifting and where the decline needs to end up."
Winston Gold did not pay operations man Mr. Gunsinger, or his boss Mr. Nye, or president Max Polinsky when it was a private company, but it said that its key officers would start invoicing Winston Gold for their services once it went public, which occurred this spring. Shareholders are unlikely to grump about those bills, as their stock, just 10 cents well into summer, has had a good two months.
@tommy$WGC nothing to do with Giustra. He has never owned a share. LIX CEO Paes Braga was one of the Winston optionors. He owned under 15% of a private asset which was sold to Winston. Brian had owned the interest for 3 years. He is NOT promoting Winston.

@leafsHi JamesKwantes, I am subscriber to your newsletter and always appreciate your insighte on mining bussiness and companies. I have a question on $WGC, winston gold, why did it tank so much in recent weeks. Considering the progress it has made on its property, why is it trading only 7c? it should be trading way north of 10c. Any insight on this would be appreciate it...
@JamesKwantesHi @leafs and @dmax sorry for the late reply on $WGC. I don't cover it in the newsletter and it looks like a small, boutique high-grade operation where the plan is to go direct from drilling to production, bypassing economic studies. That path is fraught with risks; it's possible to do but most who try will fail. Not familiar with management here. I would avoid. Also it looks like shares outstanding is actually at 80.8M, not the 46M that it shows here
@TheGalvanizerAs for level playing fields and fair fights I suggest the failed $wgc promo as a classic case in point. A numbered company was acquired that owned the mineral property and FMT owned 4000000 shares of it. Since when have marketing groups become prospectors!!! Cheap positioning pure and simple. And then they got paid to pump that stock they got gifted. Geez Louise. Exchanges asleep at the wheel.
