@Brandon@allan: I joined $FWZ in June last year, well after the first two founders had initiated discussions on the project. However, I had actually tried to convince some people to back me to buy #zinc projects much earlier in 2013, but there was no interest nor money then for it. Most people paying attention saw this coming because the end of life for a few big mines had long since been forecast (Century, for example). The issue was that these things were forecast at a time where there was no money to back new projects, so nothing was done until the general health of the mining industry (somewhat) returned in 2016 and then zinc went ballistic.
@Samson@HRA-Coffin based on my own data (which could be inaccurate), the valuation per zinc pound for $tk is $0.063, $dbl is $0.007, $vtt is $0.181, $cnx is $0.015. Mind all my valuation is based on: 1) fully diluted market cap; 2) only consider zinc and ignore other metals. $zinc
@Brandon@Allan: the property deal was well underway when I joined, although it was signed after. I had moderate involvement in the definitive, but in reality the lion's share of the credit for our property deal goes to Richard, one of our founders. As to other metals, $FWZ itself would be very unlikely to deviate from #zinc, but personally I see a similar opportunity coming in #copper in probably 2 years or so.
@SASKEXPRESS@engineer or any Zinc gurus out there - @TheGalvanizer or @Ocotilloredux or whomever. What's the lowest you can reasonably see the LME inventory going to? And, is it easy to plot decades of Zinc inventory levels against historical Zinc prices? I had access to Bloomberg terminals for a decade or so out of university but it's been a few years since I've been able to go tinker around after hours and do research on powerful platforms like that. Thanks! $TK$VTT$FWZ#zinc
@GoldfingerI could be wrong but today's $TK release starts to make it look a lot more like $NXE (high grade over a wide swath of the resource), something that was tossed around on this forum over the last couple of weeks. Not saying it's at a world class level yet, but Rome wasn't built in a day. $zinc
Disclosure: No position.
@VaughanZinc: the tastiest of metals. Seriously. I didn't know it had an effect on taste in humans. "It is also important for taste, smell, and to heal wounds. Trace amounts of zinc occur in many foods, such as oysters, beef, and peanuts." http://geology.com/usgs/uses-of-zinc/#Zinc
@DanOGlencore's McArthur River #Zinc Mine
REPORTER: Three years ago a plume of toxic sulphur dioxide smoke revealed pyritic rock was burning in the waste rock dump.
ASSOC. PROF. GAVIN MUDD, ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING, RMIT: This is sort of unprecedented. I don't know of any other case in Australia that's got to this level of problem on this scale.
JANE BARDON: Today, parts of the dump are still burning. Glencore has applied to double the size of its operation but needs to show it can stop the burning before the expansion can go ahead.
@DanOPyrite oxidation (in waste rock dump) is an exothermic reaction i.e. produces heat. Each 10 deg increase in temperature doubles the oxidation rate. So it goes higher and higher until it catches fire. Must be the perfect combination of heat, oxygen and water down there. The problem is that the smoke that comes out (watch video) contains sulphur dioxide which is a potent toxin. Might affect future #zinc supply as the McArthur won't be allowed to expand unless they would bring everything under control but that could be difficult to achieve.
@JamesKwantesDiscovery of a different sort: I didn't realize $SSL has a 2% NSR royalty on Glencore's zinc- and silver-rich Hackett River VMS project in Nunavut. $SBB has a significant silver royalty on Hackett River -- 22.5% of the first 190M oz, 12.5% after (a royalty that gets no value in the market). Sabina's sale of Hackett River to XStrata is primary reason the company has been cashed up for so long. $SSL got the Hackett River royalty as part of the deal with $TECK#silver#zinc
@LeniIn my opinion, zinc has a bullish narrative which is based on supply destruction. Taking positions in zinc exploration, development and production companies may prove to be highly advantageous in the years ahead. For this reason, I've spent the last few weeks researching zinc companies. Today, I'm sharing my research on one of the companies in which I've recently taken a position. This company has roughly $17 million USD in cash, interest in a large high-grade zinc deposit in Peru, a pending takeover of a company which has 50% interest in a high-grade Alaskan zinc project, and a solid management team. This company is Solitario Exploration and Royalty. #index$slr$xpl#zinc@Leni/solitario-exploration-royalty-offering-a-great-value-proposition-in-this-zinc-bull-market
@freeheelI bought more on the dip today too - the drop on low volume looked manipulated to me. Perhaps the market makers are keen to encourage a few more sellers ahead of the pending resource update - must only be 1-2 weeks away max. Bemused that the market completely ignored the #zinc RNS from Friday, but that's AIM for you I guess...
@anomalloyI said this last week, but i think its worth repeating. Looks like $WLF bottomed out and bids building, few asks. Flow-through PP @.16 due to close anytime. Proceeds to be used for drilling Orvan Brook #zinc, #copper, #gold, #silver property, Bathurst Mining Camp, New Brunswick, located 15 k ne of Trevali’s Caribou mine and mill facility. Undervalued, good mngment, and the pressure must be on them to bump up the sp before the AGM next Friday. #ninjapicks#index
@RulingminingI read that #lithium demand could rise 3x but production could quadruple. There is no shortage of the stuff in the world and better ores to make batteries from like #Zinc (cheaper, safer, and lighter for equivalent power) or Vanadium for large scale longer term storage in #vanadium redox batteries.
@engineerStrong rebound in base metal prices today Zn +$0.03 +2.6%. Cu +1.4%. Pb +1.5%. Maybe those inventory numbers finally having an impact with inventory declines accelerating over the past week. #TK#VTT#FWZ#ZINC.
@tommyJust got a tip about "discovery Metals" a new Mark Odea / Oxygen Capital play with a smokin' rich #zinc discovery in Mexico not previously publicly marketed... coming to market soon. Anyone know details? Symbol? #index
@EvenPrimeREPOSTING JUNE 9th when @Engineer started his consecutive Zn inventory drops LME zinc stocks June 9 -1,650t to 324,325t from 325,975t June 8. Day 17 of consecutive Zn inventory drops. $tk$vtt$fwz#zinc~zinc
@MiningBookGuy@Vaughan - on $BAY, all the pieces seem in place. i just think people will need to be patient, and there's still a chance for interesting stuff to happen this summer. I also think people underestimate the #zinc potential to go along with #copper
