@Newton The report does state that Hamama West is a hybrid VMS http://cdn.ceo.ca/1cd0i6e-IMG_20170320_142519.png+ and I gather that there is some precedent of similar deposits elsewhere on the Arabian Nubian Shield, specifically in Saudi Arabia.

@Newton Good to see one of the Estonian investors join $AAN as a Director. He is named Tonno Vahk. One of the largest shareholders who is "former derivatives and financial engineering specialist" that has been "managing private equity investments in Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa, with a focus on mining and real estate"‎ since 2012. I've wondered about potential for a PE group to get behind Aton, given large land package, and it is good to see that has happened already with OU Hektik. ‎Sounds like a great addition to the company.

@MiningBookGuy @cjb @freeheel @Blueshare RE: https://ceo.ca/mtr.l?446e76151b60 $MTR.L - wow, FANTASTIC news! i'll briefly go through my immediate good/bad impressions: GOOD - I 100% guarantee that this will get the attention of potential North American investors! Both $MTR.L and $MOD.AX still incredibly overlooked in this part of the world. Not only does T3 #Botswana #copper project get 'instant credibility' with #Sprott name attached, but $MTR.L has an even better reason to 'catch up' with $MOD.AX valuation. This is an amazing deal for people who can participate in the PP BAD - as retail, I'm never a fan of '5 year, full warrants'. This is very similar to recent deals I've seen from Sprott, like $AAN and $GXU. It's excellent for people who can participate...but it blows out share structure even further. Unfortunately, $MTR.L already has some share structure issues, and this isn't helping. While $MOD.AX has too many shares out, their last 2 financings had no warrants, which I really liked. Still, it's overall a HUGE positive--pricing was good at 3 pence, with warrants at 6 pence. getting this #financing is much more important to $MTR.L, because it's 'AIM' listed, and I support it with a large stage in $MOD.AX (and currently much smaller stake $MTR.L), because it's a crucial step that could eventually lead to North American 'big money' :) #AIM-Stocks #ASX-Stocks

@tommy Aton has drilled 12 holes, pending assay results, at Hammama West in Egypt, with the goal to grow resources. Trenching, geophysics and regional remote sensing data have turned up many new exploration targets. Investors out of Europe, Sprott, and to a lesser extent, @Newton and myself are among Aton's backers. @marketwired/aton-provides-exploration-update-at-abu-marawat-concession-7473f $AAN

@Newton My favourite bit from $AAN news today: "the presence of visible gold in strongly hydrothermally altered intrusive rocks makes Bohlog an exciting target that warrants further exploration work. The mineralization at Bohlog and Massaghat to the northeast, where Aton have previously returned channel samples assaying up to 470g/t Au (see news release dated August 15, 2012), appears to be of a similar nature and this is very exciting in terms of the potential overall size of the target area. It also demonstrates the large and varied geology within the Abu Marawat Concession and the potential it offers for new significant discoveries.”"

@HHorseman Btw, I put up my Watchlist sheet from google docs on the site. It's a bit crammed but one can use the scroll at the bottom. It's still not 100% complete but at least the fully diluted market caps should be up to date for most. A way to compare some companies if nothing else. @Goldfinger On a call with Aton Resources CEO $AAN. Let me know if you have any questions for the company.
1
from #index,

@Goldfinger $AAN is essentially a call option on Egyptian mining regulatory reform. Right now a mining company is automatically a 50/50 partner with the government (on the profit side). AAN needs to achieve "commercial discovery" designation by summer 2018 to get a 20-year extension on its Abu Marawat and Hamama West projects. They are in the 2nd 2-year extension on exploration licenses so if they don't get the commercial discovery designation they could lose rights to the properties. Probably about 300-400% of upside in the event of commercial discovery designation and positive progress toward mining regulatory reform in $Egypt, however, plenty of risk if company isn't successful with getting commercial discovery status on at least the Hamama West project. Hamama West has 341,000 inferred Au-equivalent ounces and 137,000 Au-equivalent ounces indicated grading 1.28 grams/tonne Au-equivalent. Company is focused on achieving a positive PEA on Hamama West which it believes will enable it to achieve the commercial discovery status.

Zhen @Goldfinger for 'commercial discovery', you state "achieving a positive PEA on Hamama which it believes will enable it to achieve the commercial discovery STATUS", does this mean a PEA may not be sufficient to make 'commercial discovery'? Could it be that $aan would be required to complete a pre-feasibility or feasibility study?
1

@Goldfinger @Zhen That's a great question to ask the company. The way I heard it on the call it didn't seem like a sure thing, but that it was a probable thing.

@Newton Interesting to frame $AAN as "call option on regulatory reform in Egypt" because it suggests geology is secondary. May be fair given 2 established resources and several other prospects that are known/being found now. Thoughts @bmonaghan ?

@Newton I guess the road to success is a long one and regulatory reform is important.

@bmonaghan @Newton the banner used to read "District-scale potential in world's last gold mining frontier" @tommy suggested the change to "call option on regulatory reform in Egypt". Both are good but right now regulatory reform would have the biggest impact on our valuation, hence @tommy suggestion. However, open to suggestions. Anyone have any better ideas for $aan tag line?

@bmonaghan $aan May 11 Egypt will announce the results of its gold mining exploration tender next week, Minister of Petroleum Tarek El Molla said on Thursday. Talking about the mineral resource law, Molla said that regulations were being worked on that would "satisfy most stakeholders" though he did not say when these would be released. @Newton Good to hear talk of mineral resource laws, at least. I've never really followed substantial change in government policy for mining in real time before. Guess it's happening all the time in one place or another. A lot at stake in Egypt for it all.

Zhen @bmonaghan could you clarify the last $aan nr on April 4, it says geophysics has commenced. I'm wondering why was there no comment in this NR, about the geophysics and the results? thanks

Zhen @newton, @goldfinger the screen shots you provided do not discuss PEA and commercial discovery, all it says is a commercial discovery but does not clarify what a commercial discovery means. It would stand to reason, if the company intended to say PEA, then they would say so

@Newton Pretty sure a "commercial discovery" is something that exists in context of Egyptian regulatory environment Zhen. Not sure exactly what goes into it, tbh, but confident team has it hand.

@Newton Zhen note that activity update includes "Continued regional exploration results; Metallurgical test work in preparation of a Preliminary Economic Assessment for Hamama West; Activity at Hamama Camp is slowing down in anticipation of Ramadan, May 26-June 28." My guess is that geophysics is complete and they are getting into analysis of data. Ramadan may provide window of time to focus on that. It takes time to do proper geological analysis of geophysics with other types of data, but it would likely be useful to regional exploration immediately.

@mikkojan The reason to own this stock is for exploration upside and unfortunately most of the company's money is being directed to Abu Marawat to complete the PEA, which must be done before June 2018 or else property goes to the state. I don't think the PEA will make a difference bc it is based on a small resource of few hundred thousand Oz. Political relief may lift the stock but without exploration I think it continues to drift and is pressured bc they will need more money. Key shareholders provide some downside protection

Zhen @mikkojan I have to question if a PEA is sufficient. Centamin which controls the Sukari Mine, in their 2007 Prospectus it states: "In accordance with the terms of the Concession Agreement, PGM undertook a FEASIBILITY STUDY to support its application to EMRA for a “Commercial Discovery” (within the meaning of the Concession Agreement) with respect to the Sukari Project. On November 9, 2001, EMRA notified PGM that the feasibility submission had demonstrated that a Commercial Discovery had been made at the Sukari Project. As a result, the Concession Agreement was converted from exploration to exploitation status and PGM, together with EMRA, were granted an Exploitation Lease over 160 km2 surrounding the Sukari Project site (Figure 5 below).".
