@BallistariusInvesting that there seems to be more of these mainstream articles for ETH. Don't see #bitcoin and #ethereum as rivals though.. different blockchains with different strengths and weaknesses.

@zentrarianEtherium is to Bitcoin like silver is to gold. A store of value but also a platform with almost unlimited potential applications. You could almost say ETH is to BTC like the internet is to the computer. With that in mind, where was the real long term value created?...I'll take software to hardware anyday, but you're right, Ballistarius, they both serve different purposes, as do a number of other (much more speculative) up and coming cryptos: DASH, Monero, etc.

@Ballistarius@zentrarian I don't really subscribe to the Gold as BTC and ETH as silver comparison, mabye if you compared BTC to LTC that would be more accurate. But If you use the BTC as gold I see ETH more as Oil that fuel the Future Dapps (decentralised applications) but also can be used for payments. I also believe in a multi blockchain future but imho not every blockchain will be relevant.
@BallistariusAny thoughts from the BTC holders and others on the BTC UASF impact in august on LTC and ETH? On the one side mabye some may move to ETH / LTC if it doesn't work out well but on the other hand it could be bad for the entire crypto sector including ETH and the altcoins? I can't make up my mind on this topic and curious about others opinions in this matter. #ethereum#bitcoin#Litecoin
@GoldfingerAnd in other news anyone remember all the top callers on $Bitcoin and cryptos a couple of weeks ago? They keep making new highs. Trying to call a top on a parabolic never before seen market is a fool's game, and there are plenty of fools out there. $Bitcoin$Ethereum
@PhotoJ#ethereum market cap now nearly 70% of bitcoin's market cap. Huge volume on the BTC/ETH pair today fueling the most recent rally in ETH (people are dumping #bitcoin as opposed to fresh fiat coming into ETH). Bound to see some red candles in the coming days, but the trend is clear. Ethereum will overtake Bitcoin as the king of crypto. @Jayfire@goldfinger#index

@zentrarianI agree, @PhotoJ, ETH is destined to overtake BTC, at least in market cap. And why not? Etherium is Bitcoin 2.0: not just a currency but a complete, versatile platform for what will be an endless parade of new applications in coming years - many of them not even thought up yet. What's more, it's unhampered by scaling problems, internal dissension, and BTC's refusal to be flexible on the immutability issue (obviously an important factor, considering that ETC is still a lousy $20). I didn't expect ETH to become a store of value in its own right, but that's the final blow because its really all BTC still has going for it. Of course, the universe of new altcoins and tokens are Bitcoin 3.0, but their even greater success in the marketplace only undermines BTC's supposed first mover advantage. And look how many of the new tokens ride on top of Etherium's platform! I only wish I'd the cojones to buy a LOT more than 95 ETH a year ago (at $15).
@teevee@Goldfinger@teevee/cryptocurrencies-the-mother-of-all-disruptions$bitcoin$ethereum#index ....I see there is a new bill on the floor of congress that has expanded the definition of financial crimes to include digital currency: https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/senate-bill/1241/text#toc-idea0e9489fc8f46379f95bb56c8bbbda5 what it maeans is that if you travel into the USA and have over $10K in crypto currency in your crypto wallet on your phone or laptop, and don't declare it, 100% of your assets are subject to civil forfeiture action-that means your bank acct, house, other property-all gone and with no recourse. Gov't is wasting no time. By the way, Canada and some provinces like BC and Alberta have similar civil forteiture laws dealing with "proceeds of crime" and with little to no recourse.
.....regarding the $HIVE financing, the trouble with large crypto currency mining farms, is that the processor cards burn out in 1-3 years. HIVE may be buying a pending junk pile with a large capital replacement cost ahead of them.
@teevee@LucaBrasi, $HIVE, $bitcoin$ethereum yes, those cards are run hard around the clock. 3 years would be end of life if any lasted that long. Another problem is many transactions are dark. How are transactions and "mining" income audited at arms length? Lots of issues and problems here that I see.
@teevee$bitcoin, $ethereum$hive cogitating further on mining farms, when a farm is set up, who audits the hardware and software? For example, perhaps a software or hardware contractor or insider could set up a skimming operation where some of the coins are banked on a separate hard drive that the skimmer only has the key for, so the hard drive can either be swapped out or the skimmed coins transferred to another country and then converted to $US dollars or other currency? Do such hardware and software auditors even exist?.... Can mining farms be hacked, turning some of the cards into slaves, earning coins for the hacker? This looks like the wild west to me. https://ceo.ca/@teevee/cryptocurrencies-the-mother-of-all-disruptions
@zentrarianThis correction may go on for awhile (with support around $350 and resistance around $400) but AFAIC the longer it lasts the better. You don't have to be a chart reader to see that ETH is consolidating into stronger and stronger hands as people taking profits balance out new investors just coming into the market. Like a lot of people who got in early, I'm selling some of my ETH (bought at $15), but I intend to keep at least half for the long run. I believe Etherium could well be the Amazon or Google of this generation.

BrianBitcoinBull@zentrarian ETH has a lot of Dirty Laundry and things that are unclear. Hype and momentum is on its side so it will likely go higher. No problem taking a free ride. Much like you I accumulated all mine originally in the $10-15 range. Sold most which looks like a mistake now at $222 to put everything into #Litecoin. Which I personally believe is the most honest Crypto out there. I actually like the fact people think its boring coin until 3 days ago. Not going back to bailout early investors like ETH did or change their name multiple times like #DASH to cover up mistake after mistake. Like we talk about in the mining industry people do matter in the Crypto space. With all that said I have speculative positions in many areas. Just something to think consider because there is massive hype and a ton of ICOs that are going to end up being scams and paid promoters out there on YouTube pimping themselves out for coins.

BrianBitcoinBull@Newton Anyone who has mined Crypto knows it barely profitable. That is why people like Genesis sell the Hashpower to customers for Cloud Mining rather than just mine the coins and sell those themselves. Don't think its out of the goodness of their heart. Iceland is an excellent place to run a Crypto mine because of the cold weather which cools the hot machines and the low cost abundant Geothermoal energy. But make no mistake Crypto mining is a tough business that is why Roger Ver has been arguing for #Bitcoin Unlimited and threatening a Hard Fork so that miners control the fee structure. While it is super interesting that guys like Frank Geustra are getting involved in the space its not glamorous. Like I said before for #Ethereum#Litecoin#Dash and the other Cryptos the money in the space is being made by the exchanges on transaction fees. I love the Small caps but #Hive is not something I would touch unless you are speculating the Crypto crowd will bid up the price initially just because it has to do with Crypto and nothing to do with the business. Which is a real possibility. Kinda like the Marjuana stocks.
@GoldfingerI'm on a #cryptocurrency chat with about a dozen active crypto traders and the daily conversation revolves around which crypto they are going to trade into and ride higher. I am boring and I sit holding $Ethereum day after day, missing out on some of the huge gains these guys make daily. (of course i'm up about 800% on Ethereum but somehow it doesn't seem like that much when guys are making 20%-30% every day).
@Goldfinger@soulMiner In fairness, I made it clear to subs when I bought $Ethereum at $47 in April. And yes, I haven't been actively trading the space. Perhaps i've been too influenced by all the bubble talk and fear of getting caught in a crash.
BrianBitcoinBull#Bitcoin and Block Chain technology is either going to go down as one of the biggest waste of time, money, resources, & brainpower ever!!!!! When you consider the actual energy and computing power to mine, developers, promoters and users!!! Or this is going to change the World Forever!!!! Time and time again I put my money on the latter? Why? Because as a Speculator I seen for years people 100x smarter than me have put major time for free and crazy excitement if you talk to any of these Nerds. The potential is literally capped at the MOON!!!! The downside is literally whatever money and energy I or you put into it. Hate it or love it, its honestly a LOL interesting paradox whichever side you are on. Is the Glass Half Full or Half Empty??? HAHAHA
BrianBitcoinBull@Tommy good luck with $Hive. If you are pumping it to dump it then well played my friend. We are in an Alt Coin Bubble no doubt. The interesting thing is ppl have to go through 3-4 Coins/Tokens to exit out into FIAT currency. I predict essentially the biggest of all short squeezes with #Bitcoin, #Ethereum#Litecoin and possible one to two other going parabolic during the event. Especially with Bitcoin as many are taking theirs off the exchanges and putting them into hard wallets with BIP 148 coming.
BrianBitcoinBull@btcholder think its definitely true what Charlie Lee said with regards to #ethereum. You have lots of irrational exuberance from people who don't even know what they are buying. I still argue #Litecoin if you put out a credit report for each Crypto. Its not even close, its the cleanest one out there.
